Why Run? Why Run Now?
Democracy was formed with the idea of government for the people and by the people. In this moment, we need individuals who will fight against the blatant abuse of power, engage in conversations with Democratic, Independent, and Republican voters to find common ground and common sense solutions. We need a leader who will fight against blatant abuses of power. We need a leader who has a breadth of experience. One who’s resilient when faced with challenges.
Top Priorities
Address the Affordability Crisis
I will fight home and auto insurance providers who raise rates regardless of claim history; health insurance companies that prioritize stockholder profits over patient care; and push the U.S. House to regain control over tariff policy - Trump's tariff policy has increased the costs on nearly all imports. We need to restore friendly trade relations with our neighbors. We need more affordable steel and aluminum from Canada, and more affordable avocados, tomatoes, cucumbers, and limes from Mexico.
Continue Congressional Oversight
Our current Congressman, Eric Swalwell, has been a good check on the Administration. In that tradition, I will work with Congressional colleagues to address blatant abuses of power, such as sweeping pardon powers. A President, regardless of party, should not casually reverse judicial decisions.
Having written my Master’s thesis on the administration of fair elections, I will protect every citizen’s right to vote without fear or intimidation, as well as reverse discriminatory hardships placed on certain voting locations. No one should have to wait endless hours in line to cast their vote. Con
AI for Accessible Tech & Disease Treatments
Technology using AI assists blind and low vision (BLV) individuals navigate the world on a more equal basis. And, AI has the power to advance medical research and treatments at a pace not imagined a few years ago. I will support growth in this space because it will bring jobs and open opportunities to the BLV community, but will advocate for smart regulation that sets standards for secure, trustworthy AI.
Jobs, Local Manufacturing, Clean Development
As the job market contracts and AI looks to replace many entry-level jobs, the focus needs to be on bringing new, innovative, jobs into the district, as well as encouraging jobs in the service industry and trades - ones that will not be replaced by AI. For example, Hayward is becoming a hub for major data center employers, bringing jobs and driving much needed investment in regional infrastructure. As this development moves forward, we need to focus on smart development in future-forward technology. The Trump Administration and GOP leadership ended valuable funding that was provided by the Inflation Reduction Act. Under Democratic leadership, I will strongly advocate to restore tax credits for clean energy, EV vehicles, agricultural conservation, and rebates for home efficiency. These programs and tax incentives create jobs that are balanced to benefit the environment and the health of the district.
I have direct experience with job creation and saw the benefits of federal programs supporting local manufacturing and pathways to careers. During my time at LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, I worked out of the Sirkin Center and saw the tremendous value of the AbilityOne and SourceAmerica programs. These federally funded programs create and support jobs for blind/low vision individuals and those with disabilities. They move individuals off federal assistance and into the workforce. The Trump Administration has threatened to cut funds. I will fight to protect these programs. We need to support local manufacturing and meaningful work.
