Addressing the Cost of Living

From increases in the cost of basic groceries to increases in the cost of energy, housing and insurance, people are worried about their futures. I will work toward:

  • restore Congress' control over tariff policy

  • reform auto insurance, restricting increases after a claim

  • restore renewable energy policies, give homeowners more options to produce and use their own energy

Checking Presidential Power

Most presidents have willingly followed the unwritten rules that governed the expectations of The Office - these are called 'norms and traditions' and have been stressed tested to the point of breaking. If elected, I'll work with my follow lawmakers to codify these unwritten rules into law, namely the power of a president to

  • freely pardon

  • run for office without disclosing tax returns

  • hire family

  • profit office the presidency

Smart Regulation of AI

We've been told that artificial intelligence (AI) is a game changer in terms of finding cures for disease and making our work more efficient. But, this power has the potential create chaos if not properly regulated. Therefore, I'll work with other congressional leaders to regulate AI and protect:

  • the environment as it relates to the building of new data centers,

  • our children and their ability to independently learn and land a future job, and

  • content creators from copyright infringement

Modernizing Congressional Processes

The hyper polarization in Washington needs to end - this has been said for years and years. But, the current dysfunction was unfathomable when the Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich began this crusade in the mid-1990s. His actions quietly launched the economy of hate that dominates our current politics under Mike Johnson.

I'm tired, we're all tired of the nonsense. We need to restore good governance as our North Star for seeking office. Create bipartisan committees that outline goals and objectives in advance, offer progress reports to their districts, and care more about governing than profiting off the office.

If elected, I'd continue the work began by Congressman Derek Kilmer, Washington state Democrat, who co-chaired the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress.
